Greater Zurich Area AG used the joint pavilion of the three
cities of Basel, Zurich and Geneva at Expo 2010 in Shanghai to
highlight the advantages of Switzerland and the Zurich economic
area as a base for European operations to potential investors at
an exclusive event – with success!
Numerous countries and cities are vying for the attention of the
Chinese public at Expo 2010. Greater Zurich Area AG’s main focus
lies on companies considering an expansion to Europe in the next
few years. Therefore, in the run-up to the Expo, it decided to
mark Zurich Week by hosting a specific event aimed at this
target group in the joint pavilion of the three cities of Basel,
Zurich and Geneva.
The event entitled «Greater Zurich Area: The springboard for
European expansion» and featuring top-notch speakers was held on
the afternoon of June 1st. Alongside other experts, the speakers
and panel members included Prof. Gerhard Schmitt of ETH Zurich
and Dr. Flavia Schlegel of swissnex. Testimonials from Chinese
companies already based in the Greater Zurich Area came from JW
Hung of
Pixcir Electronics and Hong Gang,
Chairman of
Tralin Pak,
a major Chinese corporation specializing in antiseptic coatings
for food packaging.
Among the 30 or so seminar participants were representatives of
a number of Chinese multinationals, who went on to reveal their
great interest by asking numerous in-depth questions. The
investment seminar was covered by a film crew from Shanghai
Television, whose report was broadcast to an audience of 30
million viewers in the greater Shanghai area.
As a result of the seminar, two delegations - including Shanghai
Television – have already booked a visit to the Greater Zurich
Area, where they will get a first-hand idea of the specific
opportunities available.
