Switzerland among top ten in Global Enabling Trade Report 2008

According to the «Global Enabling Trade Report 2008», published for the first time ever, by the World Economic Forum (WEF), Switzerland ranks 9th, placing the country with those economies most receptive to international trade.

Switzerland performed particularly well in the areas of «market access» (5th) and «business environment» (7th). The country also received good marks for its supportive regulatory environment facilitating the hiring of foreign labor, its transparency and lack of border administration corruption, and its excellent security environment.

The report includes 118 economies worldwide, measuring policies and services easing the free flow of goods over borders to destination. The results are presented in four overall areas: (1) market access, (2) border administration, (3) transport and communications infrastructure and (4) business environment.
