Get Local turns tourists into urban insiders
The start-up Get Local wants to use its platform to help visitors to Zurich avoid tourist traps and instead be able to choose activities that even locals would recommend. It is working together with several partners to allow users of getlocal.ch to book hotels, restaurants and even excursions.
Get Local is now receiving a total of CHF 150,000 from two members of Business Angels Switzerland. According to a statement, three other investors are investing a further CHF 120,000. Get Local intends to use the money to properly launch its platform in Zurich, which until now was only tested as part of a pilot phase.
“The business idea, which doesn’t exist elsewhere in this form, won me over,” said Nijazi Halimaji, a member of Business Angels Switzerland. “The B2B-to-Customer model is highly personalised, appeals to the more upscale tourists and is also manageable in terms of its investment amount.”
In addition to the fresh capital, the Get Local founders will also get to benefit from the expertise of the investors. “The business angels sit on the board of directors or preside over Advisory Boards and contribute to strategic matters. We also benefit from their outstanding network,” said Get Local founder and CEO Stefan Neukom.
Visitors to Zurich can currently choose from around 140 packages on getlocal.ch, offering by 60 partners from different sectors. The start-up is already planning to expand to Basel in autumn, and even has its sights set on Lucerne, Bern, Berlin and Vienna.
