The MedTech firm Align Technology is planning to transfer its European headquarters from the Netherlands to Switzerland. The new location will be based in the Suurstoffi area in Rotkreuz. According to information provided by the real estate company Zug Estates, Align Technology has rented out the lowest two floors of S22, a high-rise office block made from wood, extending across a total area of 2,950 square meters.
As Beat Bachmann, Head of Economic Promotion at the Department of Economics in the canton of Zug, said in an interview with “Luzerner Zeitung”, a total of 140 employees will make the switch from the Netherlands to Rotkreuz. The company is also planning to construct a new software development center here. “Those in charge of this projects said to me that the opportunities here are better than anywhere else in the world”, Bachmann commented, before claiming that the company is intending to establish a presence “in the proximity of institutions useful for this goal”. These include the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) and the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU), which has recently opened a new ICT and Finance campus in Rotkreuz.
Align Technology is headquartered in San José, California. The company manufactures digital 3D scanners as well as plastic braces (pictured above) for its aligner treatment in the field of orthodontics.
