Zug/Barcelona - Authena has become the first Swiss company to win a Glomo Award at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. The specialist in technology solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT) and blockchain was awarded the prize for the best Web3 innovation.

Authena has won a Glomo Award at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. It triumphed in the Best Innovation for Web3 category. The Zug-based company was founded in 2018 and is the first from Switzerland to receive a Glomo Award. It is an international provider of IoT and blockchain technology solutions for secure product authentication, supply chain tracing, and interactive manufacturer-user communication. Authena initially operated under the name Starchain and later as Acatena.

The Glomo Awards are among the most well-known distinctions in the mobile sector. They are awarded by the GSM Association, the international industry association of the mobile provider GSM. The awards honor companies, individuals, and governments that are pushing the boundaries of innovation in mobile technology.

Authena has developed the Authenticity and Traceability as a Service platform. It is used by companies for innovative supply chain management and provides a counterfeit-proof way to ensure the authenticity and traceability of products. This creates a broad range of sales opportunities.

According to a press release on startupticker.ch, the jury commented: “Connecting physical objects to digital representations [phygitals] is a huge opportunity space, and Authena is laying the foundation for making this a reality in a way that many others will be able to easily implement.”

Authena’s Founder and CEO Matteo Panzavolta added: “We are delighted to receive this award from the GSMA. It is an acknowledgement of the hard work and dedication of our team and their unwavering commitment to driving innovation in the mobile industry.” mm
