Mendrisio/Kloten - The DOS Group has sold off its rescue and emergency app in addition to the association part of the company to the Swiss air rescue service Rega. From now on, the software products developed by the IT firm will be further developed by the new Rega company sureVIVE.

The Swiss air rescue service Rega, which is based in Kloten in the canton of Zurich, has acquired the software products Momentum, ArvaDOS and DriveOnStreet from the Ticino IT firm DOS. Moreover, it is also buying the associated part of the company, which will now be known as sureVIVE SA and will be located at DOS headquarters in Mendrisio in the canton of Ticino. According to a press release issued by DOS, the products and the development team will be further expanded at this location moving forwards.

Momentum is a rescue and emergency app. It was launched in 2014 and has been used in 16 Swiss cantons for many years. Since last year, the Rega Operations Center has been using a further implementation of the Momentum software to alert the Swiss Alpine Rescue Service of the Swiss Alpine Club when helicopter crews need assistance in difficult terrain.

DOS was founded in 2001 by Stefano Doninelli in the municipality of Arzo, which these days forms part of the district of Mendrisio. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors and remains the sole shareholder of the group. In addition, Doninelli works for emergency services and is the brains behind the rescue apps. Alongside his current roles at the DOS Group, he will in future additionally be a member of the sureVIVE SA Board of Directors and will be responsible for innovation.
