Zurich – The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zurich has appointed several new professors from fields such as machine learning, computer vision and robotics to strengthen its ICT expertise. Eight of the thirteen new professors are currently working in the United States.

The ETH Board has appointed 13 new professors at ETH Zurich. According to a press release, the majority of the new professors are engaged in ICT or at the interface to other research areas.

These include Caroline Uhler, currently Associate Professor at MIT, and Mrinmaya Sachan, both of whom work in the field of machine learning. Siya Tang, currently Research Group Leader at the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems in Tübingen, Germany, and Fisher Yu both specialize in computer vision.

Other new appointments include Rasmus Kyng, who conducts research in the field of theoretical computer science, Ana Klimovic, who specializes in computer architecture, and Robert Katzschmann, who is currently Chief Technology Officer at Amazon Robotics and focuses on the development of soft drive systems for robotics.

Three of the new professors work in the field of life sciences, and two others deal with energy-related subjects. In total, eight of the new professors are currently working in the US, three in Switzerland, and one each in Germany and Singapore.
