Schlieren - Yokoy has emerged as the winner of the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Awards 2022. This is the first time a startup from the fintech sector has won. Planted Foods came in second place, followed by Ledgy in third. They have already created more than 420 new jobs and amassed 153 million Swiss francs.

The jury of the TOP 100 Swiss Startup Awards 2022 has named three startups as the best in Switzerland. The winners include two fintech companies: Yokoy in first place and Ledgy in third place. The foodtech company Planted Foods took second place. According to a press release, these startups have an average age of 3.5 years, have already created more than 420 new jobs, and received a total of 153 million Swiss francs from investors. This was the twelfth year of the competition organized by Venturelab. It was supported by Credit Suisse and the Swiss Venture Club.

Greater Zurich Area excels in TOP 100 Swiss Startup Awards

The fintech company in first place, Yokoy, uses artificial intelligence to automate the entire process for company spending and company credit cards. The startup from Zurich was founded in 2019 and came in 20th place in 2021.

Planted Foods located in Kemptthal in the canton of Zurich produces vegan meat alternatives from plant protein without additives. The jury has now awarded second place to the startup established in 2019 after it reached 37th place last year.

Ledgy is a Zurich-based platform for equity management. It supports startups with managing equity investments, participation schemes for employees, funding rounds, and investor relations. Ledgy came in 13th place in 2021 before achieving third place this year.

In the rankings list of 100 startups, 38 come from the canton of Zurich, 26 from the canton of Vaud, and 10 from Geneva. It includes 19 companies from the biotech industry, 18 from ICT, 15 medtech firms, 10 fintechs, 9 cleantech companies, and 9 engineering firms. Additionally, there are seven foodtech companies, five in the security sector, five from the robotics industry, and three proptech companies.

According to the jury, the startups with the best growth prospects established between five and ten years ago were AlgoTrader and Beekeeper from Zurich and Bitcoin Suisse from Zug. The list of winners comprises the TOP 25 scale-ups in Switzerland. The list of ten winners of the public vote was led by TissueLabs Sagl from Manno in the canton of Ticino, SoHHytec from Ecublens in Vaud, and dimpora from Zurich.
