On 2 September, the first five-month incubation program under the Impact Club will begin. Ten teams have been selected from the 64 entrants to the incubator project launched in April by Impact Hub Ticino.
The Impact Club aims to accompany impact and social innovation entrepreneurial projects in a path of incubation supported by philanthropists and investors linked to the territory. In this way, the program wants to create the conditions for projects to receive adequate support and become economically sustainable companies.
“In our analysis, we considered the impact of projects, risk potential, investment worthiness as regards effect and philanthropic aspects as well as the benefit an incubator could bring to the team at this specific time,” said senior project manager Catie Burlando in the Ticino edition of “20 Minuten” newspaper. During the selection process, the foundation Stiftung Mercator Schweiz joined the Migros Pioneer Fund, which was the first major partner of the Impact Club.
Participants of the first Impact Club include startups and initiatives such as Calanca Swiss Herbs, Carbon Zero, Green Waste Disposal and Testedirapa. They all transform household waste or wood processing by-products into high-quality new products including essential oils, charcoal and fertilizer. Clown a domicilio and Natural Networking are social projects for both healthy and ill children. Stesso Mare creates short films about environmental issues for primary school children. Humus is a circular farming project that also promotes social integration. Heat Neutral specializes in carbon neutral burners for different fuel types. Lastly, EDU eScape digitale is enriching the curriculum with immersive teaching experiences for secondary school pupils.
