Lugano - Jelurida has enabled use of its Ardor Blockchain platform via cell phones. In this way, users can get involved on the network via their cell phone without having to manage a server or run a laptop. This should make Blockchain even more secure.

The Ardor Blockchain platform developed by Jelurida can, for example, be used for transferring money, trading digital goods and decentralized crowdfunding. Now, the company based in Lugano has announced, that its Blockchain platform allows users to “run a full node of Android OS devices that supports full platform functionality”. This means that users can join a decentralized network via their cell phones. For this, users do not have to maintain a server or leave software running on their laptops all the time.

While users could previously use their cell phones for certain functionalities, a server was needed for the formation of new “blocks” – a core part of all Blockchain activities – and other important Ardor functions including bundling, automated financing and Coin Shuffle. The new Jelurida solution now changes all this.

“The switch from hosted server nodes to portable devices makes Blockchain even more resistant to external attacks, data corruption and censorship”, Jelurida explains in the press release. The kind of “Proof of Stake” (PoS) Blockchain operated by Jelurida does not depend on mining farms. However, when the majority of nodes are located in just a few data centers, natural catastrophes or a coordinated attack can lead to more major disruptions. This changes when numerous mobile devices across the whole world, in the physical possession of their owners, are actively involved in the PoS consensus. This helps to “bring the resistance of Blockchain against natural or human adversaries to a whole new level”.
