Zurich – Zurich Airport is collaborating with Microsoft on The Circle. The IT giant will help digitalize the new service centre, making it easier for tenants to communicate with customers.

The new service centre at Zurich Airport, The Circle, is being built on an area of 180,000 square metres. When completed by the end of 2019, it will be home to shops, restaurants, hotels and a medical centre run by the University Hospital Zurich.

Zurich Airport has now announced that it has entered into a technology partnership with Microsoft to digitalize The Circle with the aim of providing “a personalized digital world of experience”. This will include developing a platform for the Internet of Things (IoT) that will offer customer-focused digital services. It will also give product and service providers a new way to get in touch with their customers.

According to Zurich Airport, the project will include a virtual concierge and digital wayfinding solution from the outset, which are intended to offer tenants in retail, gastronomy and conferences in particular with new opportunities to interact with customers.

The digital services will “increase the attractiveness of the new destination at Zurich Airport and give significant momentum to Switzerland as a centre of innovation”, according to the announcement.

The Circle has already succeeded in securing several tenants, including Microsoft Switzerland. The IT giant will move its Swiss headquarters from Wallisellen in the canton of Zurich to the new building.
