Piëch Automotive presenting electric sports car

Piëch Automotive is showing its Concept Car Piëch Mark Zero at the 2019 Geneva Auto Show for the first time. This is a purely electric sports car. According to the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure, this car has a range of 500 km, as was reported in a press release. It features a special type of cell that hardly heats up during charging or discharging phases. This means significantly higher currents can flow as the cell temperature rises only marginally. The fast charging mode allows for a short charging time of only 4:40 minutes to 80 percent battery capacity. In the Mark Zero, an asynchronous motor delivers 150 kW on the front axle and two synchronous motors produce 150 kW each on the rear axle.

Piëch Mark Zero is based on a modular vehicle platform, which allows for flexibility in the choice of drive systems. The vehicle architecture can be fitted with different kinds of hybrids or a conventional internal combustion engine. Piëch Automotive plans to offer this modular structure to other manufacturers in future.

The sports car will reportedly be brought to market in the next three years. Alongside the sports car, Piëch Automotive intends to develop other types of vehicle based on this concept. These include a classic four-seater car, but also convertibles or pick-ups.

Piëch Automotive is based in Zurich and Munich. Company founders and owners are Toni Piëch – son of former Volkswagen boss Ferdinand Piëch – and Rea Stark Rajcic.
