Zurich – Supercomputing Systems (SCS) has developed a system for a packaging machine manufacturer that makes it possible to identify and verify pharmaceutical products, thus lending a hand in the fight against counterfeit medicines.
The packaging machine manufacturer Gerhard Schubert GmbH is committed to ensuring that its customers can guarantee the traceability of pharmaceutical products. To this end, SCS implemented a corresponding modular architecture that enables complete traceability at every level of packaging, such as bundles, shipping cartons or pallets.
SCS also ensured that the necessary functions as well as the integration of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solutions have no negative impact on production speed or quality. In this way, ERP systems from different manufacturers can be connected, and the records required for audits are also guaranteed by the system.
Thanks to this solution, users of Gerhard Schubert GmbH machines can fulfil national and international regulatory requirements. According to the World Health Organization, more than 100,000 people die each year in Africa alone from counterfeit medicines.
