The new building will increase the capacity of the Coop subsidiary specializing in sustainable cosmetics and hygiene products. Steinfels Swiss is investing 35 million Swiss francs in this.

According to a press release from Steinfels Swiss, a Coop subsidiary specializing in the manufacture of sustainable cosmetics and hygiene products for retail, hospitals, and catering, it laid the foundation stone for its new production building in Winterthur on March 30. Christian Koch, CEO of Steinfels Swiss, comments: “With the new building we are investing in the Winterthur production site and expanding our offering of cosmetics products. This will enable us to meet the increasing demand for cosmetics and in particular sustainable alternatives.”

The press release goes on to explain that the company plans to modernize its cosmetics production and realign its detergent production in the new production building. Internal goods flows will be automated as part of this. The building work is scheduled to be finished by the end of 2023. The new production areas will provide space for 150 employees.

Steinfels Swiss has demolished its old production building in order for the new construction project costing 35 million Swiss francs to go ahead. The new building is expected to “set sustainability standards” according to the company’s press release. For one thing, it will be built in accordance with Minergie standards to achieve this. Additionally, most of the electricity required will be generated via a photovoltaic system. Steinfels Swiss will obtain the heat energy needed for production from the municipal utilities of Winterthur in the form of waste heat.
