An association of 23 Californian schools is increasing its data protection by way of cloud data management services from Veeam. This will allow the school district to increase the speed of data recovery by 98 percent.

The confidential data of 23 schools with 20,000 students and 1,800 teachers from the Val Verde Unified School District (USD) in California’s Moreno Valley is from now on to be protected by Veeam, as outlined in a press release. Veeam is an internationally leading provider of back-up solutions in delivering cloud data management services headquartered in Baar. With its software, Veeam facilitates data recovery for Val Verde USD in the event of a cyber-attack or device failure within three minutes per file. Previously, the same process would have required around three hours.

According to Cyndi Barrera at Veeam’s partner firm Logicalis, the IT consultants “recognized that Val Verde USD’s existing data backup solution was taxing on both their system and their staff”. The Veeam Availability Suite has allowed the school district to increase its recovery speed by 98 percent, thereby significantly reducing the time spent on such tasks by the school’s own IT team. In addition, software updates can now be tested without any danger in isolated environment. “Veeam makes our lives easier”, commented Brian Falk, network services manager, Val Verde USD.

Paul Strelzick, Senior Vice President of Americas at Veeam, praised the proactive approach undertaken by Val Verde USD. He stated that data will now be “always protected and accessible on-premises, off-premises and in the cloud”. In this way, the school district will be able to focus more strongly on its own educational mission.
