The next edition of Switzerland’s leading “venture” start-up competition will be even more important. The categories under which start-ups can compete have been made more diversified. According to a press release, the competition wants to “align itself more with the pillars of the Swiss economy.”

Start-ups from the existing categories Health & Nutrition and Industrials & Engineering have until 26 March 2020 to submit their entries. Three new competition categories Retail & Consumer Services, ICT and Finance & Insurance have been added.

The price money has also been increased to 510,000 Swiss francs, and the grand prize winner will take home CHF 150,000. This competition is co-organized by the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology in Zurich (ETH) and Lausanne (EPFL), McKinsey & Company, Knecht Holding and Innosuisse.

“We are extremely grateful to our sponsors, who have demonstrated once again their commitment to furthering Swiss innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Dr. Thomas Knecht, chairman and founder of the ”venture” foundation. “We believe this country is more than well-equipped to compete on the global stage of innovation; we have the knowledge, talent and the drive. At “venture”, we strive to help boost these startups with the funds which are critical at such early stages.
