Schlieren ZH - VirtaMed has developed the first mobile surgery simulation lab in Switzerland. This means that the company from the Greater Zurich Area can provide training courses at hospitals across the country. The simulation lab is to be used in neighboring countries in future too.

VirtaMed introduces mobile simulation lab

VirtaMed develops medical simulators that can be used to train and further educate physicians. Martina Vitz, Head of Training & Education at VirtaMed, is quoted in the press release saying: “Over the past months we received a lot of requests for training.” For this reason, the company has now developed a mobile simulation lab for laparoscopy that “brings a new generation of technology to surgical training.”

VirtaMed will now be able to conduct training at hospitals across the country using the new lab. The company states that “from St. Gallen to Geneva, surgical departments will welcome a mobile simulation lab that is kitted out with virtual reality simulators and run by an expert team.” These training sessions will be the first contact with VirtaMed’s new technologies for attending physicians from surgical and orthopedic disciplines. Isabel Gauggel, Senior International Business Manager at VirtaMed, adds: “Since VirtaMed simulators are developed and produced in Switzerland, we are passionate about bringing them to Swiss residents.” Once the travel situation has returned to normal, the new mobile simulation lab will also be used in neighboring countries.

VirtaMed was founded as a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) in 2007 and is headquartered in Schlieren.
