Dübendorf/San Francisco - VRM Switzerland is rebranding: The company, which specializes in the development and production of helicopter flight simulators on the basis of Virtual Reality and training pilots, will from now on be known as Loft Dynamics. After securing fresh capital of 20 million US dollars, the company has its sights primarily set on growing in the USA.

VRM Switzerland – VR Motion has been rebranded as Loft Dynamics. At the same time, the developer of the world’s first and only Virtual Reality (VR) simulator authorized by a major aviation regulator (the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, or EASA) has announced that it has successfully closed its first institutional financing round and raised 20 million US dollars in the process. At a time when the aviation industry is facing up to a glaring shortage of pilots, this will facilitate the global expansion plans of Loft Dynamics, comments CEO and co-founder Fabi Riesen in a press release.

The financing round was led by the North American tech investors Craft Ventures, Up Ventures and Sky Dayton, the jet pilot and founder of both Earthlink and Boingo Wireless. Dayton will also be joining the Board of Directors of the company founded in 2018 and headquartered in Dübendorf in the canton of Zurich.

According to information from the company itself, the flight simulators offered by Loft Dynamics are one-tenth smaller and 20 times less expensive than conventional models, in addition to reducing air training by 60 percent. “The Loft Dynamics simulator allows pilots to regularly train the full range of normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures, in addition to all manner of weather conditions – safely and immersively anywhere in the world”, explains Christoph Zammert, Executive Vice-President Customer Support & Services at Airbus Helicopters, a partner and client of Loft Dynamics.

“I heard about this innovative company in Zurich combining VR with motion, and flew to Switzerland to see it for myself”, comments Sky Dayton, a new addition to the Board of Directors at Loft Dynamics, in the press release. “I was blown away by the realism: I landed on a runway, and as the skids touched down, I could feel the texture of the asphalt”, he adds. Moreover, he even retained muscle memory of the movements and vibrations of the real aircraft days later. “Loft Dynamics is going to revolutionize pilot training”, Dayton concludes.
