Zurich – Siemens has been operating in Switzerland for the past 125 years and is currently active in around 20 locations. According to Matthias Rebellius, CEO of Siemens Switzerland, these are key for the corporation. Siemens’ global operating company Smart Infrastructure has also been run out of Switzerland since April.

Siemens has been active in Switzerland for the past 125 years. Since then, the corporation has earned its prominent place in the country’s economy, said Matthias Rebellius, CEO of Siemens Switzerland, in a press conference marking the anniversary. The German corporation employs more than 5,600 staff at its 20 locations in Switzerland. The headquarters of the regional company Siemens Switzerland are in Zurich.

Siemens Switzerland reports in a press release that it has established a strong market position in the areas of building and energy technology as well as industrial automation and drive technology. The company is also well-positioned in railway and road traffic technology as well as medical technology.

Most recently, Siemens has invested significantly in expansion at the Zug site: around a year ago, the company inaugurated a new Campus inclusive of an office building and production facilities. Until now, Zug has been home to the global headquarters of the Building Technologies Division. This division will now be integrated into the new Smart Infrastructure (SI) operating company. The global headquarters of SI have also been based in Zug since April 2019, with around 70,000 employees falling under its sphere of responsibility. SI has a business volume of approximately €14 billion, making it one of the world's largest industrial headquarters located in Switzerland, according to Siemens.

“The fact that the company has been conducting its global SI activities out of Zug since April 2019 is undoubtedly a positive sign for this business location,” comments Matthias Rebellius, adding: “Switzerland is extremely important for Siemens. I am delighted that our country is of such great significance within the corporation.”
