Schaffhausen – The Schaffhausen Institute of Technology has launched a competition in the area of computer science and software engineering. The aim here is to appeal to outstanding students in Europe and Asia. The winners will receive a scholarship at the private university.

The Schaffhausen Institute of Technology (SIT) launched the SIT STAR Contest at the start of June. This is a competition in the area of computer science and software engineering. The winners will receive full or part scholarships for Master study courses at SIT. The aim here is to attract students from Europe, south and south-east Asia, the university writes in a press release.

As part of the competition, students are tasked with solving various problems on the Codeforce platform, which is the largest network for programming competitions. Participants have until June 14 to familiarize themselves with the platform, before competing against each other on June 17. The winners will be announced in July.

SIT was founded in 2019 and focuses on selected fields within computer and software science. The university was started by Sergej Beloussov, who is the founder of the Schaffhausen-based software firm Acronis. He was also behind the largest investment in SIT. The university project is also being co-financed by the canton. The first Master study course at the university “Masters of Science (MSc) in Computer Science and Software Engineering” was officially launched in May by SIT, with classes set to begin in September.
