According to a press release, Dating Group is buying Once, an app by Once Dating AG, for 18 million US dollars. The cellphone application helps users to find a partner, linking people together with the aid of artificial intelligence (AI). AI uses information provided by users when they first create their profile. There is also an option to rate other people’s profiles so that the AI continuously learns about the user’s personal taste.
Once is based on the concept of “slow dating”, which according to the information provided concentrates on “high-quality matches instead of vying for the attention of users.” Only one potential partner is suggested to a user each day.
Clémentine Lalande, CEO of Once, is quoted in the press release, saying: “I am delighted that Once is becoming a part of Dating Group, both because of its proven focus on dating alternatives to swipe-based apps and to put to good use the huge amount of synergy between Once and Dating Group.”
Once Dating AG is headquartered in Freienbach in the Greater Zurich Area. Dating Group is a Maltese company that owns several dating platforms.
