Modum AG has been acquired by the Californian company Roambee. Founded in 2016, the Zurich-based start-up offers digital monitoring and analysis solutions for supply chains. In so doing, it leverages the benefits offered by the Internet of Things and blockchain technology.

As Modum writes in a press release, both companies are leaders in the field of modern supply chain visibility. However, in the past they have pursued different strategies. Roambee is primarily active in in global distribution, real-time and logistics in the less regulated non-pharma sector, while Modum has, in contrast, so far successfully focused on the last mile and “highly integrated distribution” of sensitive goods.

This takeover was something of a logical next step, according to Simon Dössegger, CEO of Modum, who explains in a press release issued by Roambee that “Modum will enhance Roambee's cold chain footprint with a proven last mile visibility technology to extend the Roambee product proposition to a unique global end-to-end visibility solution.“

Together, Modum explains, the two companies have a “fantastic opportunity to drastically increase capabilities in global tracking and monitoring, increase our market and global footprint, and extend the revenue base in this highly competitive market”.

Key management personnel at Modum including CEO Dössegger will be offered leadership roles at Roambee with the aim of bringing their expertise and experience to the table for the Californian firm.
