Sulzer Schmid closed an oversubscribed series B funding round in June, according to a press release. The round was led by Swisscanto Invest by Zürcher Kantonalbank. Various venture capitalists were also involved. The amount obtained has not been made public.

Sulzer Schmid has developed a testing platform that can be used to check a large number of wind turbines for damage using drones in a cost effective way. The technology provides high-resolution images that can then be analyzed automatically. The company recently met its largest order to date: It inspected 1500 wind turbines for the Danish energy company Vestas. Moreover, it has already concluded other contracts in over 25 countries.

According to information provided by Sulzer Schmid, it plans to use the fresh capital to expand its team. The focus is on sales and further development of the product.

Sulzer Schmid was founded in 2016 and is located in Oetwil am See in the canton of Zurich.
