Switzerland is one of the happiest countries in the world

According to the new World Happiness Report, the inhabitants of Switzerland are among the happiest in the world. It came in fourth place in the rankings. Number one is Finland, followed by Denmark and Iceland. The first eight places were all taken by European countries. Following behind Switzerland are the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Sweden, and Norway. The USA came in 16th place.

The World Happiness Report is a publication from the United Nations’Sustainable Development Solutions Network. It is created by scientists in North America based on surveys created by Gallup. Statistical information and responses on various areas of life were assessed, such as life expectancy and health, economic output, social relationships, or corruption.

Lara Aknin comments in a press release on the report: “Data considered in the World Happiness Report offers a snapshot of how people around the world evaluate their own happiness and some of the latest insights from the science of well-being.” Aknin is an associate professor at the Simon Fraser University in the Canadian province of British Columbia and co-author of the report.
