Schlieren - Exalos is now collaborating with the LaSAR Alliance, an international association of companies for the further development of applications for augmented reality (AR) eyewear.

Exalos, a company based in Schlieren in the Swiss canton of Zurich specializing in light-emitting diodes (LEDs) and semiconductor light sources, has recently joined the LaSAR Alliance according to a press release. This is an international association of companies working on the further development of applications for AR glasses. Exalos focuses on the design, development, manufacture, and sale of light source solutions based on superluminescent light-diodes (SLEDs) and tunable lasers. Its developments range from laser diodes (LDs) to RGB micromodules for smart AR eyewear.

Christian Velez, CEO of Exalos, states: “We have been working on light source development for AR displays for over five years and it is clear that laser beam scanning (LBS) architectures offer one of the best solutions for a compact design to address the nascent consumer smart glasses market.” He adds that the company is able to provide complementary capabilities to the LaSAR alliance with its developments.

According to Bharath Rajagopalan, Chair of the LaSAR Alliance and Head of Strategic Marketing at STMicroelectronics, the alliance can “drive the growth of augmented reality wearable devices through laser beam scanning solutions” with Exalos.

The LaSAR Alliance was established in October 2020 by the international semiconductor manufacturer STMicroelectronics with headquarters in Geneva. Its members are companies and corporate groups that exchange and use information together, collaborate, and enter into partnerships.
