Swiss universities score well with finance

The British business newspaper the Financial Times has published a new ranking of the best Masters courses for finance. Switzerland has four universities included in the top 55 study programs.

The University of St.Gallen (HSG) did best out of the Swiss institutes, being rated 14th in the world. The University of Lausanne came in 28th place. These were followed by two study programs from the Greater Zurich Area: the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI) took 37th place, while the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (HSLU) came in 51st place with its Masters course in Banking and Finance at the Institute for Financial Services Zug in Rotkreuz in the canton of Zug.

The University of St.Gallen and the University of Lausanne also appeared in the ranking list last year, taking 7th and 26th place. In contrast, this is the first time that USI and HSLU have made the list. Simon Amrein, who leads the HSLU Masters course together with Florian Schreiber, comments in a press release: “Being included in the ranking underlines our course’s high quality as well as its successfully combined scientific and practical orientation.”

For its ranking list, the Financial Times evaluates various factors in the areas of job market competence and career opportunities for students as well as course diversity and international character.
