Zürich - Orderfox has established a platform on the basis of Artificial Intelligence (AI) via which procurement officers can search for suitable parts for high-precision machine tools, otherwise known as CNC machines. This will replace time-consuming research via search engines and should also help to stabilize supply chains.

The Zurich-based start-up Orderfox is making Partfox, its smart search platform for manufacturers looking for CNC parts, available to procurement officers free of charge. These parts are used in machine tools known as CNC (computer numerical control) machines, which, thanks to control technology, are able to automatically produce workpieces with high precision, even in complex shapes and designs.

Based on uploaded technical drawings, the platform uses AI to find companies that can manufacture and deliver specific parts from a database of more than 213,000 manufacturers worldwide and in real time. In total, 28,000 of these have registered on the platform and indicated the technologies and production options for which they would like to receive inquiries. In addition, the software automatically searches online for relevant manufacturing companies.

Procurement officers can then make a selection and share their contact details. Thereafter, Partfox automatically asks all suitable manufacturers to send in an offer. With a clear list of these offers, the procurement officer can then provide further information and refine the request until the most suitable supplier is found.

The price comparisons will help to cut costs, explains Kaspar Helfrich from Orderfox. In addition, Partfox achieves time savings of 20 to 40 percent in the procurement process. Problems in the supply chains can also be solved via Partfox: “With the targeted search for manufacturers from their own region, Partfox finds alternatives within seconds that buyers can use to easily bypass global delivery problems”, Helfrich explains in the press release. mm
