Wieland Electric GmbH has been operating a subsidiary in Winterthur since the beginning of 2014. The German family-run company is absolutely convinced of the value of this business location.

Wieland Electric GmbH produces electrical connector technology, decentralized building automation and components for industrial automation. The company, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2010, is considered a pioneer in the area of electrical connector technology.

The first meeting to clarify the interests of the Greater Zurich Area AG and Wieland Electric GmbH took place near the end of 2012. After further meetings, the company registered itself in the commercial register in August 2013. Since January 2014, the German family-run company has been operating successfully in Winterthur with five employees.

Why Winterthur in particular? Wieland firmly believes that the Greater Zurich Area is at the heart of the electric industry. "The Winterthur region has a multicultural profile and a cosmopolitan outlook," CEO Hans Ruckstuhl comments. He feels the city also boasts outstanding transportation access, and the attractive setting (costs, size, security) combined with a large pool of new talent are additional business location advantages.

Greater Zurich Area AG offered active support during Wieland's relocation process. It assisted the company by reviewing the existing business plan and assessing its plausibility. In addition, GZA AG recommended Wieland to other companies to help solidify and simplify its establishment in Switzerland.
