今年，共有173个城市根据五项主要标准接受了评估：稳定性、文化和环境各占25%，医疗保健系统和基础设施各占20%，教育占10%。
苏黎世的总得分为97.1，仅次于维也纳（98.4）和哥本哈根（98.0）。作为瑞士最大的城市，苏黎世在卫生和教育方面获得了最高分，而在稳定性方面的得分相对较低。
墨尔本紧随其后，排名第4位。卡尔加里和日内瓦以96.8分并列第5位。在今年的评估中，日内瓦在卫生和教育方面也获得了满分。EIU认为，瑞士最需要在文化和环境方面有所提升。排名前十的城市中，悉尼和温哥华并列第7，大阪和奥克兰并列第9。
尽管西欧的指数下降了0.3点，但它仍是世界上最宜居的地区。东欧的增幅最大，为0.4点，领先于中东和北非的0.3点。
