ANYbotics is expanding the customer base for its four-legged inspection robot, ANYmal X, beyond the initial customers, such as the oil company Petronas. At the SPRINT Robotics World Conference for Inspection and Maintenance Robotics in Amsterdam, the Zurich-based company announced that it would be accepting commercial orders effective immediately. According to a press release, more than 500 of these robots have already been reserved. The first deliveries are planned for mid-2023.

According to ANYbotics, this is the world’s only robot with legs certified for explosive areas. Its artificial intelligence-based locomotion, navigation, and inspection intelligence is suitable for use in the oil, gas, and chemicals industry. It enables full digitization of monitoring processes and thus also automated systems.

Peter Welter, Automation Manager at chemicals company BASF, commented: “ANYmal X closes an important technical gap, conducting automated inspections in very complex environments, with stairs and tight passages, and this in combination with Ex-zones, that’s a novelty!”
