Zurich/Gütersloh - The Bertelsmann subsidiary Arvato Financial Solutions has invested in Nexxiot, a start-up based in the Greater Zurich Area. With this collaboration, the expert in the area of freight transport digitalization is seeking to accelerate the global adoption of its freight monitoring solution.

Arvato Financial Solutions is the new lead investor in Nexxiot AG. Together, the two companies intend to further develop and enhance the intelligent cargo shipping platform based on the Internet of Things (IoT) from Nexxiot. No details regarding the financial aspects of this investment were publicly disclosed.

According to a press release issued by the Zurich-based start-up, Nexxiot technology offers “field-proven precision IoT hardware, software applications and cutting-edge analytics” for fleet owners, carriers, and cargo owners. Together with the experience of Arvato Financial Solutions, customers now stand to “benefit from full cargo and transactional transparency in one place” via the Nexxiot platform.

Stefan Kalmund, CEO of Nexxiot, describes the proprietary “TradeTech” as the “leading digital cargo transformation tool across Europe and beyond”, while the new collaboration additionally “promises to further accelerate its adoption worldwide”.

“What has not yet come to full fruition in the banking world due to institutional hurdles is now picking up speed in the logistics industry”, the Bertelsmann subsidiary Arvato Financial Solutions explains in a separate press release, before adding: “With Nexxiot, an international logistics player is now cooperating that, together with its main investor, stands for the digital spirit in the TradeTech industry like no other”.

The level of transparency achieved in this manner will in future help to crack down on illicit trafficking in addition to contributing to improving cargo safety and reducing CO2 emissions through the increased efficiency. According to Nexxiot, by eliminating waste caused by empty runs and inefficient routes, the company will be on the right path to achieving its target of a global reduction CO2 emissions of five percent.
