Zurich – Ava, a MedTech company from the Greater Zurich Area, developed a bracelet that helps women conceive. Two years after its launch, more than 1,000 babies have been born to Ava users.

Ava launched its bracelet in 2016. Since then, more than 10,000 pregnancies have been documented among its users. The company has now confirmed in a statement that more than 1,000 “Ava babies” have been born, with the first in the USA in August 2017.

The bracelet identifies a woman’s fertile days by measuring her temperature during the night, as well as eight other physiological parametres, including breathing rate and pulse. Ava’s algorithms then report on the fertile days in real-time.

"We started this company and created Ava with a vision of building a product that would empower women via data and technology to use insights from their monthly cycle to improve their reproductive health and well-being,” commented Ava co-founder Lea van Bidder.

Ava is currently researching other areas of application for the bracelet, such as contraception. The aim is for it to one day support women in all areas around fertility.
