Rotkreuz ZG – The world’s largest brewer AB InBev is moving to the Suurstoffi site in the canton of Zug. The brewer will be renting an entire floor in Switzerland’s first ever high-rise made of wood.

AB InBev already moved its global procurement to the canton of Zug last year, founding Anheuser-Busch InBev Procurement GmbH in Steinhausen ZG for this purpose. Now, the brewer is planning to relocate up to 130 jobs from Steinhausen to the new Suurstoffi site in Rotkreuz ZG at the beginning of 2019. Specifically, the global procurement and sustainability units will be based here. To accommodate these, AB InBev is renting an entire floor with over 1,455m2 in S22, Switzerland's first-ever wooden high-rise, as the property group ZugEstates reported in a press release.

“The site has ideal public transport links and, with schools, a gym and restaurant outlets, has a lot to offer our employees. On top of that, Suurstoffi’s unique, Swiss-wide sustainability concept is an excellent fit for the high standards we set in this area,” says Bradley Skinner, Global People Director Sustainability and Procurement, explaining the choice of location.

The Suurstoffi site is carbon-free. The heating and cooling demand is supplied from ground storage and waste-heat recovery systems in buildings. Electricity is produced by solar panels at the site. S22 – the building AB InBev is renting – is the first high-rise made of wood in Switzerland. It has ten floors in total.

AB InBev has its headquarters in Brussels and also has operations in the USA. The company was created in 2008 following the acquisition of Anheuser-Busch by Brazil's InBev Group. In terms of beer volume sales, AB InBev is the largest brewer in the world. It owns brands such as Beck’s, Budweiser and Corona.
