Zurich – A total of 17 of the world’s most cited researchers this year work at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH). Overall, 102 researchers from Switzerland are listed in the current edition of the list, which is published annually by the media group Clarivate.

The list of ‘Highly Cited Researchers’ from the data researchers at Clarivate includes 17 researchers at the Federal Institute of Technology Zurich according to an announcement. They are among 6,600 researchers from 70 countries across the world who have had a great impact on one or several research areas through their publications.

The analyses include the most quoted publications from 2010 to 2020. This list is published annually by the data researchers at the Institute for Scientific Information at the American-British media company Clarivate.

Seven of these researchers are active in Environmental Systems Science at ETH, four in Biology, three in Chemistry and Applied Biosciences, two in Health Sciences and Technology, and one person each in the Department of Materials and Physics. One of the researchers named is now working at the University of Leipzig.

With a total of 102 researchers in the list, Switzerland is in tenth place globally. This figure has remained largely constant since 2018. The USA takes first place (2,622 entries), followed by China (935). Harvard University is the institute with the most highly cited researchers under its roof (214).
