Schlieren/Bundoora - Fixposition and Position Partners will now be working together in Australia and New Zealand. Through this link-up, the partners hope to improve the control and positioning of autonomous devices such as field robots.

Fixposition, a start-up that specializes in precision navigation systems from the Greater Zurich Area, has agreed a partnership in Australia and New Zealand with the positioning specialist Position Partners, further details of which can be found in a press release. Together, the partners intend to make improvements in the area of field robotics, with a particular emphasis on challenging environments with poor signal. Automation via field robotics facilitates the collection of sensor data and corresponding device control.

Position Partners, based in Bundoora on the outskirts of Melbourne, supports the construction, infrastructure, mining, agriculture and related applications where high accuracy Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) positioning is required, the press release explains. The agreement with Fixposition will offer customers in Australia and New Zealand improved positioning accuracy even in locations where signal is limited or obstructed.

Fixposition will bring its high-precision xFusion positioning technology to the table for this project. The solution integrates imaging and delivers position and orientation data with incredible accuracy irrespective of the availability of GNSS.

“Our early access program for xFusion Cloud will empower our shared customers to enhance application positioning capability, mitigating the impact of GNSS signal obstructions on performance”, comments Lukas Meier, co-founder and CTO of Fixposition, in the press release.

A case study on the subject of field robotics is set to be presented at the IGNSS 2024 (International Global Navigation Satellite Systems Association) in February 2024 in Australia.

Fixposition is spin-off from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) with its headquarters at the IJZ, an innovation and start-up park located in Schlieren. ce/gba
