On November 2, the Swiss robotics scene came together to celebrate Swiss Robotics Day. The event was organized by the Swiss National Centre of Competence in Research Robotics (NCCR). According to a press release, just under 500 researchers, innovators, developers and investors attended the event in Zurich, setting a new record for visitor numbers in the process.
The Swiss Robotics Day was opened by Joël Mesot, President of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH). In fact, ETH Zurich acted as the co-leading house for the event, while the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL) took on the role of leading house.
During the event, various scientific presentations were held, while representatives from companies such as ABB and Hocoma outlined industrial perspectives.
Overall, more than 50 exhibitors took part in the Swiss Robotics Day – including scientific labs, start-ups and major companies. They showcased various technologies ranging from mobile robots to delivery drones and wearable exoskeletons.
In addition, a new funding program in the area of robotics was announced at the event. As such, the Swiss Innovation Agency Innosuisse is expanding its NTN - Innovation Booster funding platform to include robotics. The program will run from 2022 to 2025, with the first projects eligible for submission at the start of 2022.
