Winterthur – China plans to focus more strongly in the future on innovation. A Swiss business delegation will now travel to China to explore joint opportunities. The trip is being organized by the ZHAW School of Management and Law with the support of the Canton of Zurich.

Until now, China has focused primarily on exporting inexpensive products. Under its Made in China 2025 programme, it now wants to focus more strongly on innovation and becoming more competitive. To this end, the country is promoting promising local industries and strengthening local expertise.

The Center for Asia Business at the ZHAW School of Management and Law is now organizing a five-day business trip to China at the end of October for 20 representatives from business and politics, who will be given the opportunity to focus on the “economic policy programmes and the corresponding opportunities for innovation”. Participants will be able to validate and further develop the structure of the activities of their own companies in China, something that is meant to benefit SMEs and larger companies alike. The business trip will go to Shenzhen/Guangzhou and Shanghai.

According to a statement, the programme is also being supported by the Canton of Zurich. “The Canton of Zurich supports this programme in light of the increasing importance of such markets for Switzerland and their impact on the global economy, as well as in the context of the canton’s very good relations with Guangdong province.” Other partners include Swissmem and Swissnex.
