Wollerau/Hong Kong - The start-up Moflix is ranked in second place globally for embedded SIM (eSIM) technology. According to an international market analysis, the start-up, which was founded in 2019, is therefore among the main challengers to the market leader, the US firm Amdocs.

Moflix, a start-up operating in the telecommunications (telco) sector that is headquartered in Wollerau in the canton of Schwyz, is ranked in second place worldwide for eSIM technology. This is according to an analysis carried out by the Hong Kong-based market research institute Counterpoint Research. As such, the company, which was only founded in 2019, is the main challenger to industry leader Amdocs, which is based in the city of Saint Louis, Missouri, in the USA.

According to the report, Moflix is developing into a “leader in end-to-end eSIM orchestration capabilities” alongside its three competitors Lotusflare, IDEMIA and Truphone. The report additionally reserves particular praise for the lifecycle management, interoperability, analytics and self-serve functionalities offered by Moflix.

The eSIM technology represents a digital alternative to the conventional SIM card, which is physically embedded in a cell phone. As is the case with the physical card, it serves to identify a user in the mobile network and is intended to replace its analog counterpart in the future.

For this purpose, Moflix offers telecommunications companies and mobile phone providers digital solutions. These are designed to enable them to “launch a mobile-first, cloud-based and fully digital offering, integrated with their existing operations, within 100 days”, the company writes in a press release.

At the same time, the companies “also need to explore additional services for their customers beyond the known connectivity and entertainment offerings by enhancing their market access with Fintech or other Web3-based services”, explains Marc Degen, founder and Chairman of the Board of Moflix, in the press release. However, the majority of these telecommunications firms still “lack the technology and agility to seize these opportunities”, he adds. This is where Moflix can help. ko
