Lugano/Kloten/Zurich - Nexoya has been named as the winner of the Food Tech Award 2022 in the category of Data-Based Added Value. Adventr from the USA won in the second category. Both start-ups will now have the opportunity to discuss a pilot project with the award organizers Barilla and Lavazza.

Barilla and Lavazza have chosen Nexoya as the winner of the Food Tech Award 2022 in the category of Data-Based Added Value. The Zurich-based start-up came out on top against five other finalists in the final of the competition organized by the two Italian food giants together with Loomish, an investment company based in Lugano in the canton of Ticino. Adventr from New York emerged victorious in the Increased Customer Retention category. The award ceremony took place at the headquarters of Microsoft Switzerland in The Circle at Zurich Airport.

The idea for the Food Tech Award was developed within the framework of the Lifestyle Tech Competence Center (LTCC) based at the Switzerland Innovation Park Ticino in Lugano. Loomish is one of the founding members of the LTCC, in which both Barilla and Lavazza are also represented. The award is supported by Accenture, Microsoft and UBS, among others. The University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland (SUPSI) and Università della Svizzera italiana (USI: University of Italian Switzerland) are also partners of the award. “Our team is proud that, for the second year in a row, we have been able to bring together the leaders of Barilla, Lavazza, Accenture, Microsoft and other award partners to collaborate on innovation”, comments Carlo Terreni, President of the LTCC, in a joint press release issued by Barilla, Lavazza, Loomish and LTCC covering the award ceremony.

This year’s Food Tech Award aims to boost the development of innovative food retail solutions that will help Barilla and Lavazza to improve their customers’ shopping experience and leverage data more effectively, the press release further explains. As winners of the Food Tech Award 2022, Nexoya and Adventr will now have the opportunity to “discuss a pilot project with Barilla and Lavazza”.
