Baar ZG – The Erasmus Medical Center has started using the Ascom Healthcare Platform. The Medical Integrated Communications and Information System (MICIS) combines various information streams and connects with Ascom smart devices.

The Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam is one of the most modern hospitals in Europe. In the course of recent modernisation and renovation work, it also introduced the Healthcare Platform offered by the Zug-based provider Ascom. The platform enables various information streams within the hospital to be combined into a single platform and connects with thousands of Ascom Myco mobile smart devices, Ascom reported in a press release. Patients wear wristbands that identify them to the platform, which can consequently ensure the correct caregiver is always notified.

The objectives of this renovation were to enhance efficiency in an integrated care process and improve comfort for the patient, says Simon Vermeer, CIO of Erasmus MC, in the press release, adding that the solution provided by Ascom “has made a visible and essential contribution to achieving these goals” while at the same time being completed within the allotted time. CFO David Voetelink is also pleased with the collaboration: “Ascom has delivered an outstanding achievement and made a great contribution to creating the hospital of the 21st century.”
