Grüsch GR – The Wittenstein Group is expanding in Grüsch into a competence centre for drive components. For the second phase of construction, it is investing 22 million Swiss francs.

The Wittenstein Group is gradually expanding its presence in Grüsch in Vorderprättigau. In 2010, the mechatronic drive technology specialist opened an office wing and a production plant. Now, the groundbreaking ceremony for the second phase of construction has been held.

The group is investing 22 million francs in construction and production facilities, with the aim of expanding Grüsch into a competence centre for drive components. Following the development and expansion of gear rack production, there are plans to create a modern assembly line for high-precision and high-tech construction components.

“We decided to expand in Grüsch due primarily to the machining production know-how we have acquired and grown over the past few years, as well as the excellent conditions here,” commented Andreas Tinner, Managing Director in Grüsch.

Anna-Katharina Wittenstein, member of the board of Wittenstein SE, which is headquartered in Igersheim in Germany, added that the plans would strengthen both the location and the group. She said: “The investment we have planned will not only generate a second foothold for the location, but it will also secure the delivery capability of our core business in the future.”

The second phase of construction is expected to be completed in October 2019. By the end of 2020, around 20 new jobs will be created at the site.
