Zippsafe is joining forces with the investment firm Unorthodox Ventures from Austin, Texas. The investor will be supporting Zippsafe as it seeks to expand into the US market, further details of which can be found in a press release.
To this end, Unorthodox Ventures will firstly offer support in the form of a capital injection to Zippsafe, which is based in Glattbrugg in the canton of Zurich. However, no details regarding the level of investment have been publicly disclosed. Secondly, Unorthodox Ventures will help its partner firm with the development of products and brands, in addition to offering support in the areas of marketing and customer services as well as in its efforts to tap into new markets and the logistics sector.
“As an example of that, long before leading this round of financing, they discussed with us how to build out a strong organization in America that will help sell our exceptional and innovative locker solution”, the press release states.
Zippsafe was founded in 2015 as a spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH). The company has developed a textile locker. A sensor system is integrated in the textile fabric that triggers an alarm in the event that the textile is damaged during an attempted theft.
Zippsafe is now planning to hire a Country Launch Manager in the USA. By the end of the year, the company intends to open an office on the East Coast with four employees. In addition, various trade fair appearances are in the pipeline, where Zippsafe intends to showcase its space-saving lockers.
