Solothurn/Zurich - Migros, one of Switzerland’s largest retailers, will now also be testing Axino sensors designed to automatically measure the core temperature of food in the refrigeration systems of its cooperatives in Geneva, Vaud and Neuchâtel/Fribourg, as well as in Migrolino stores. The sensors have already been in use at Migros Zurich branches for two years now.

Axino sensors for the Internet of Things (IoT) are now to also be tested in the refrigeration systems of Migros Cooperatives in Geneva, Vaud and Neuchâtel/Fribourg, as well as in Migrolino stores. These sensors can measure the core temperature of chilled foods automatically up to 288 times per day, with an algorithm specifically tailored to each product group. The IoT sensors also take into account the temperature dynamics of the cooling systems. Managers are informed about temperature deviations by way of an app notification. More than 8,000 temperature sensors of this kind have been in use at Migros Zurich for two years.

“Temperature measurement with Axino gives my team and me a direct insight into the product quality in our sales outlets”, comments Irina Huss, Quality Manager at Migros, in a press release. “It’s as if Axino gives our chilled food a voice”, she concludes.

According to Urs Raimann, Head of Building Management at the Migros City store, Axino has “proven to be a key technology for my store in view of the ever-increasing demands on food quality”. He adds: “Axino also takes work off our hands: my employees hardly have to check refrigerators any more. That leaves time for other tasks”. ce/mm
