Zurich/Campbell - The Californian IT company Mirantis is acquiring amazee.io. The startup from the Greater Zurich Area works on open-source solutions to make software developers’ work easier. As a part of Mirantis, amazee.io plans to accelerate its growth.

Mirantis is acquiring the Zurich-based startup amazee.io according to a press release. Amazee.io specializes in open-source solutions for developers. Its Lagoon platform makes the management and operation of web applications easier, for example.

Adrian Ionel, Co-Founder and CEO of Mirantis, which is based in Campbell, California, commented in a press release: “Amazee.io and Lagoon are the easiest way for developers to take advantage of the latest cloud services without having to be cloud or Kubernetes experts.” Mirantis itself specializes in the open-source system Kubernetes, which automates and scales up specific applications.

According to amazee.io CEO Franz Karlsberger, amazee.io will be able to accelerate its growth with the acquisition. The company plans to increase its investments in research and development as well as expand the support of various web technologies.

Amazee.io was established as a spin-off from Amazee Labs, also from Zurich, in 2017. The startup states on its website that it has around 35 employees.
