Altdorf/Pepper Pike - Dätwyler has signed an agreement for the takeover of the North American company QSR. With this acquisition, the supplier of high-quality seals and system-critical components is seeking to become a global market leader.

Dätwyler has announced that it has agreed a takeover of QSR. The supplier of high-quality, system-critical elastomer components based in the Greater Zurich Area is therefore seeking to become “a global leader” in another business area, further details of which can be found in a press release.

QSR is regarded as a leading firm in the area of electrical connector sealing (ECS) and ignition insulating and is often the leading supplier. The acquisition will have an immediate value-added effect on the business. Founded in 1966 and based in the US state of Ohio, QSR is to be integrated as an independent Connectors business unit within Datwyler’s Industrial Solutions business area. The company’s existing management team is also to be retained.

“With this strategically important acquisition, we will become the leading global supplier of system-critical sealing solutions for electrical connectors for a diverse range of industries, which will open up new exciting niche markets for us”, comments Dirk Lambrecht, CEO of Dätwyler, in the press release. Lambrecht anticipates that the company’s dependency on the European market will be markedly reduced through its “significantly strengthened market positions in North America and Asia”. Several megatrends including electrification, connectivity, the Internet of Things (IoT) and Industry 4.0 offer promising growth potential that the company will now seek to exploit.

Closing of the contract is expected to be finalized in the second quarter of 2022. Dätwyler is acquiring QSR from Q-Holding and its private equity owner 3i. QSR employs around 1,250 staff. In the 2021 financial year, the company generated revenues of approximately 164 million US dollars, with adjusted EBITDA coming in at 44 million US dollars. QSR operates five plants and supporting units in the United States, Mexico and China.
