Zurich - Netcetera, a software firm from the Greater Zurich Area, has acquired the start-up routeRANK, which is based in Western Switzerland and specializes in environmentally friendly route planning. With this takeover, Netcetera is seeking to offer multimodal mobility services worldwide.

The Zurich-based software firm Netcetera has acquired routeRANK, a start-up based in Lausanne, further details of which can be found in a press release. routeRANK is a specialist in the area of multimodal route planning, with its solution able to calculate the best-possible route from A to B. In so doing, it takes into account criteria such as travel time, price and CO2 emissions, while also including means of transport such as public transport, car sharing and bicycles.

With this takeover, Netcetera is expanding its existing portfolio in the area of mobility. The company is seeking to offer multimodal mobility services worldwide. In this regard, the solutions developed by routeRANK ideally complement Netcetera’s existing portfolio.

Netcetera was founded around 25 years ago as a start-up. Since then it has developed into an international IT company with more than 800 employees. It offers software products and supports companies in the development of custom solutions. Giesecke+Devrient, a German security technology company, has been a strategic partner of Netcetera since 2020 and holds an equity stake in the company.
