Danish rail infrastructure manager Banedanmark wants to digitize the maps of its underground cables. Supercomputer Systems AG from the Greater Zurich Area has won the project competition.

Danish rail infrastructure manager Banedanmark buried thousands of cables in the ground along its railway tracks over the past 100 years. It has several maps detailing where and how these cables are buried, but the quality of the maps various a great deal.

The company recently decided that the time is now right to digitize the drawings and launched an international competition for the project. It chose a solution from Switzerland: Zurich-based Supercomputing Systems AG (SCS).

According to a post on LinkedIn, the maps will be first be organized into groups and assigned to geographical regions. The items on the individual maps will then be digitized used machine learning and artificial intelligence, says Florentin Marty of SCS.
