Zurich – VolkerWessels from the Netherlands has invested in Parquery. The startup from the Greater Zurich Area develops solutions for smart parking, which might also benefit smart cities. The funding will help Parquery to expand its platform.

Parquery has successfully closed its latest investment round, as was reported in a press release on LinkedIn. The spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETH) was able to gain construction and engineering group VolkerWessels from the Netherlands as an investor.

Parquery has developed software that analyzes photos from street cameras to deliver real-time occupancy data. With this, drivers can be informed where they might find available parking spots nearby, for example. The platform could also be used to analyze traffic flows in cities. In general, it will be beneficial for the smart city domain.

The investment will help Parquery to not only increase its smart parking activities, but also expand its platform and offer a wider range of smart city solutions.

Parquery has now been collaborating for a few years with Hyrde, a subsidiary of VolkerWessels. Hyrde has been implementing Parquery’s technology in areas like smart airport security applications and smart city mobility projects.
