Schaffhausen - Acronis has updated its computer protection program for private users. It not only defends against hacking attacks, but can also recover any affected data. One new feature is the integration of antimalware technology that was previously only available to service providers.

Acronis has launched on the market the latest version of its cyber protection software for private users in the form of Acronis True Image 2021. The company announced this move in a press release. The software combines the familiar recoverable backups with protection against hacking attacks, although these features have also been newly expanded by the addition of antimalware technology that Acronis had previously only made available to service providers. Independently verified tests have shown that this fully next-generation antimalware technology offers a detection rate of 100 percent.

Acronis True Image 2021 contains new and expanded functionalities such as real-time protection based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and heuristic behavior analyses “that can prevent all types of malware”. In addition, automated plans can be defined to scan the system as a whole or only particularly vulnerable files, although if need be this can be carried out manually as well.

A web filter for Windows users automatically blocks access to malicious websites that aim to infect devices by way of malware and false notifications in addition to fraud or phishing attacks. Protection for videoconferences prevents hackers and malicious coding attacks from using popular applications such as Zoom or Cisco Webex for their nefarious purposes.

As Acronis underlines, the expanded features offered by Acronis True Image “naturally do not restrict its backup functionality”. Rather, the new version offers numerous improvements in this regard too, including continuing backup replications and more rapid backup validation.

As an increasing number of people are working from home or taking part in online courses, the FBI has documented “a 400 percent rise in cyber-attacks, as hackers know that home office systems are usually less well protected than office-based systems”, comments Serguei Beloussov, Founder and CEO of Acronis. He adds: “Backup without cybersecurity is an incomplete option in this situation, as is cybersecurity without backup”.
