Zurich - Seervision from the Greater Zurich Area has closed a successful funding round, securing a total of 3.7 million Swiss francs. The robotics startup uses artificial intelligence (AI) for the automation of high-quality video productions. It now plans to expand its sales channels.

Seervision has received a total of 3.7 million Swiss francs in a funding round according to a press release. This was led by Aargau-based venture capital firm Verve Ventures. Investments were also made by VC Metavallon from Athens, the European Innovation Council’s EIC Fund, Zürcher Kantonalbank, and existing investors.

According to the press release, the funds will be used to expand sales. The spin-off from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich also plans to expand its development team and open a new office in Athens “to maintain its technological advantages in AI-driven video production automation”. Nicklas Bergman, member of the EIC Fund Investment Committee, states: “Thanks to these funds, we are helping this fledgling robotics startup that’s meshing machine learning, computer vision, and cinematography to go deeper into the development process.” According to its own information, Seervision primarily focuses on automating the entire workflow of corporate studios, stage events, and educational spaces.

There has been an unprecedented demand for professional, internal video production since the start of the pandemic. Co-Founder Nikos Kariotoglou says: “This is the perfect time for us. The shift to remote work has brought remote production technology five years forward.” He adds that all indicators point in the right direction and that “it’s just a matter of time before we are established as a market leader”.
